Quill DRO

For those of you who have installed a digital DRO on your quill, did you bit the bullet and get a Mitutoyo or did you opt for something cheaper? If you chose cheaper, what did you buy?

I bought the 6" quill DRO from CDCO for my RF30 mill drill. Has worked flawlessly for the past five years.

I bought the Mitutoyo on recommendation from a machinist. Not cheap, but like TomS's, it works flawlessly.

I bought a broken Mitutoyo quill dro and sold just the dro for what I paid for the whole thing and used the bracket for a cheapo dro in its place.

I mounted digital calipers to mine , think I got the kit on eBay, works for me.

I picked up the shars 6” for my BP clone works great for me

I have a Mitutoyo on mine. Found it in the junk bin at work, never did figure out which toolmaker threw it away. The value was jumping around, all it needed was to have the gib screws tightened. My only complaint is that the display text is a bit on the small side.

I went old school and put an ARO (analog read-out) on my quill. Only 2 in. range but infinitely adjustable.
