Whether you are buying your first lathe or your next lathe, there are many members here at H-M willing to help and offer advice.

To make your experience as easy and painless as possible, members banded together and created some questionnaires, checklists and comprehensive equipment lists and put it all in one spot for your convenience.

Take some time to go through the materials and answer some of the questions for yourself. Browse the equipment list. Summarize a list of questions and post a new thread in the previous page. The more investigation you do, the better your questions and ultimately the best advice will be received. You don't have to use any of the materials, but understand that it may take longer to get the answers you are looking for. Either way, members are here to help!

A couple of other reminders about forum etiquette:

- members are offering free advice and opinions on what to buy. This is coming from amateur and professional experience and from all walks of life from around the globe. Please keep this in mind as you navigate the forum in general.

- if you ask questions, try to follow up and close the thread with your final decision, even if you decided to not purchase and move on. Many members are left wondering the status of your decision and are chomping at the bit to help you on the next step of the journey, making chips!
