Stripped a couple of rack mount computer servers down to just the case & turned them into drawers for my PM1127 lathe stand. This one is 4 rack units (RU), have another that's 2 RU. The rails & slides were salvaged from an enclosure at our office that was no longer needed. I used to top to the servers to cut face plates for the drawers. As you can see, these will hold several hundred pounds each.

Once I get the drawers are installed, I plan to use the material from the lathe's shipping crate to make side panels. They'll be black, of course, to keep with the color theme of my shop.

Yea, I have a touch of OCD.

Nice job. I have a number of heavy duty roller glides I need to use to build some drawers.....but I need to build a rack first. I have an enclosed cab-rack, but I have shelves in it at the moment. It's one of those too many projects at this time problems.

Ok, That is a good use for old servers, I have never thought of that. I'm an It guy that sees a lot of these, Come to think of it I also see a lot of the rails left over as well. They would make good full extention drawer slides come to think of it,

Sometimes OCD is a good thing. That way you GET-R-DONE! Excellent recycling!!!:pickaxe::aok::cheer:

And just the other day, one of my techs came to me asking what to do with a bunch of extra rails and other pieces we have laying about. Hmmm....
