Removing 3/4” shank from 7/8”-20 boring head

I'm not sure if this is the best method but in this very same situation in the past, I locked the shank in a vise, heated the shank where it meets the boring head and placed a proper diameter bar in the end of the boring head and gave it a few hits with a dead blow hammer and she came right off. I wasn't concerned about the existing shank so I really cranked it down in the vise without any concern about damaging it.

It worked for me, YMMV...

Good luck,

Joe

I would chuck the round shank in the 3 jaw lathe chuck and use a large adjustable wrench on the body with padding.
