Rotary Table Workaround

Unless someone who knows what they're doing told me different, this is how I would do it. Clamp the piece of pipe to your mill table. Find center of the pipe cross section and set both X and Y DROs to zero. Then, with something in the spindle to act as a pointer, mark the slot locations as follows:
Slot #1 at X= +4”, Y= 0
Slot #2 at X= -2”, Y= +3.46”
Slot #3 at X= -2”, Y= -3.46”

Then reposition the ring on the table as needed to cut each slot radially.

Here is the bolt circle calculator that I used to find those coordinates. You can tweak it for the actual OD of your pipe if 8" is just the nominal size. Hope this helps.

The consensus seems to be just mark it and locate the slots. I'll just include some adjustment in the base to add y travel if my layout isn't accurate enough.
