Ruger 10/22 info

I have a stock Ruger 10/22 I need to thread the end of the barrel.I was wondering if anybody knows the best way to take the sight off the end of the barrel?

You can use a drift and a hammer with the barrel locked in a vise, using lead sheet or leather or something to protect the barrel from marking in the vise. You could also use a sight pusher, looks like a chain breaker.

Thanks for the tip,I had to turn it down to get it off It was almost like it was part of the barrel,hey come to think of it i think it was part of the barrel.

The sight boss is part of the barrel, that is for sure. The sight itself is not.
