I was given this apron handwheel, a nicer piece compared to what I have, but I need the handwheel for the tailstock in a worst way. The handle was missing when I acquired the lathe, got used to cranking it with my index finger.
I thought for sure I needed to make an adapter bushing, but as luck would have it, the shaft on the apron and the TS have the same diameters. The apron handwheel is larger than the one on the TS, after using it I kind of like it, sort of like driving it like a steering wheel.
The issue I have, the handle is heavy enough that if its at any point other than 12 o'clock it wants to dive to the bottom. I temporarily tie wrapped some lead weights for counterbalance. Till I come up with permanent counterbalance solution, this Bubba approach will just have to do.
