Shop built lathe attachment for keyways

Looks like a nice project. The think that I don't understand is how the cutter is advanced? Looks to me like you would have to re-adjust the cutter after each pass. Am I missing something?

It's mounted on the cross slide, so dial it out just like a boring bar.
 
Yup, a great site, lots of nice work, and interesting projects.
 
I cut interal key ways all the time with a 3/4 boring bar held in the QCTP and use the carriage to advance to cutter. No special tool needed. Unless of coarse you want to make up the tool, just for a project. For all the keyways Ive cut, I have never concidered making up a keyway slotting tool.
