This picture of my home shop power meter setup. I was having electrical problems so I installed two power meters on the top of the shop pony panel. its a simple set up I got the meters online they use a wire ring over each hot wire supplying the panel. This gives me the ability to see how much power each leg of the shop pony panel is using and move over the load on the panel to balance it out. I can see how much power the air compressor lathe welder etc is using.
I had a bad wire connection on the pole. after watching the voltage drop off some times, on one leg, I called the utility to come and fix the connection. The old 7 hp 220v single phase lathe would dim the lights on start up. Now I'm running a VFD, 8 amps on start up.
