Slab leveling

Is that some bow in your plywood base that I'm seeing? What does the plywood base look like underneath?

Yes, it is bowing a bit...it’s 1/2” plywood supported on two cheap plastic sawhorses. The XY plane Is determined by where the rail supports penetrate the plywood, and as long as those four points are in plane, the slab will come out parallel to that. The bow is not good, but the slabs don’t bend...they may need to be shimmed a bit for stability or to get some existing feature in plane.

A solid, perfectly flat surface would be better, but Is not in the cards.

A web of 2x6 under plywood should stiffen it up.

Properly built it could be storage for everything when not in use

That is really awesome. I like the ingenuity behind it.

That is a mess load of sawdust though!

i actually notched out some 2x4’s to make a # shape, that I use a lot for cutting up plywood. I plumb forgot about using that.
Thanks, tq60!

Hey Winegrower:

Would your set-up produce a flat enough surface for a woodworker's workbench or even an assembly table? I need to resurface my workbench and was thinking about using metal studs for the rails, but like your idea better.

Thanks, Bill
