They're still there, but they aren't making cheap stuff for export.

When we were living down in Trinidad in 1971, I was facinated by a couple of Indian guys down there that did 3d carvings on rice grains. Couldn't find any of their work offhand, but did find this guy in the UK: http://www.willard-wigan.com/gallery/ It's mind numbing working at that scale.

They are now being trained to scrape ... so that they can fix all the foul ups in their machines
