Something wrong...

I think I found the problem...loose nut allowed the gear to walk off.

No apparent damage...just needs to be put back together.
 
Nope, never that simple. There is a sleeve with ears that locks the 2 gears together...basically a shaft rotating on a sleeve. It seized. There is nothing to pull on, so I had to pull out several tricks to get it off. Once off I had some fun smoothing the burr out, but it is back together and purring...
 
I had thought of the same thing but forgot to write that down.
