Hello All.
I believe my lathe spindle has an MT3. The thread on the spindle is 1-1/2 x 8. I'm wondering if there's a set of collets that will fit inside the spindle and a retaining/clamping nut that matches the spindle thread. I have a three jaw self centering chuck that holds 1/4 round bar, but it's not centering properly. I have a manual center 4-jaw but it wont hold such small material. I'd rather not use a drill chuck in the spindle since I'd like to still have the advantage of through hole.

Thanks,
John

I'm gonna be headed out to Lee's machinery in perry ohio shortly. Seems he's got about 10 tons of chucks and collets. I'm guessing I'll find what I'm looking for there.

Thanks again,
John

You could fit a 1-1/2"x8 threaded backplate and ER flatback collet chuck+ ER collets and retain the ability to pass material thru the spindle
Most MT3 collets are blind and use a drawbar so can only hold short workpieces
