I have been using tap magic as my primary cutting fluid. Is it corrosive? I got some staining on my my new Kurt vice. Not really rust but stain. Is this normal?
I never noticed it on my older stuff but it is already stained with some oxidation in places but it 20 plus years old
thanks

I've been using it for many years, never had a problem with staining.

I use it a lot on my lathe and mill, never saw any stains?

I too get dark stains from cutting fluid. I don’t know why, but it can’t be left on tables or vises.

What kind of cutting fluid are you getting stains from?

Both light colored fluids like tap magic and darker fluids like oatleys. Im pretty good about keeping it wiped up. When it gets between the vise and table is where I get dark shadows and stains.

I never noticed by I use tap magic for Aluminum and the EP for steel.

WD40, and many others will stain tools and such if left in contact for long periods of time.

No big deal really as it doesn’t affect the part save for the looks.
