Am I reading something wrong. Does the 5/0 mean something that I don't understand?

Is it brand new?

Could have gotten re-ground at some point into a custom 55* cutter.

I don't understand why it measures 55degrees then. I took it for 60, and after cutting and not having it mate with the part... .... well ya know.

No it's not brand new, but it doesn't appear to be re-ground, and it still measures 3/4.. but I get it, that doesn't mean much.

Did you check behind Door #2 to make sure that the mating part is actually 60* and not 65* for some reason?

yes, then I checked the tool with a protractor and found 60 is really the new 55.

Weird, I'd toss that cutter in your scrap bin before you do it again 5 years down the road.

hell no... it's a perfectly good 55 degree cutter. a little magic marker to black out the 60 degree
and then mark it 55.. when /if it gets used it will wear off, but I can redo it.

I'm too cheap to throw away things like that.
Even if I never need a 55.

after thinking about it, I might make the mating part 55 to match the part.
We'll see... I gotta think bout it.
