A while ago I ordered up some mokume and the supplier gave me a bonus piece that was the end piece of the mokume during forging. It wasn't constructed with a uniform pattern all around. The mokume 'grain' only showed on one side. Nevertheless I used it to make a torch. I started on the head (ti) then the body (mokume) then the tail (ti). Then later bead blasted the ti
I practiced on a bit of aluminium before shaping the body
Next to some mokume bar of the same delivery. I think the different colour is an optical illusion.
I couldn't wait for a natural patina so i wrapped the mokume in rubber bands for a day
My brother owns a bead blaster and i got him to blast the head and tail
