At the same yard sale as gloat #1 was this tripod with an aluminum top. I don't know what the original owner used it for, but it's pretty sturdy and I anticipate using it with my TIG welder. Too good to pass up at $2.

Holy crap- that looks to me, (photographer) like a location laptop stand! That's what I would do with it...

It was dirty enough when I got it that it was unlikely to have been used with a laptop, but who knows. What is or where do you use a "location laptop stand"? I'm unfamiliar with that term.
 
I got dozens of free tripods that the U.S. government threw away. I gave most of them to friends. Never saw one with a laptop mount, nice.
