Big Hint --- If you are thinking it was John Tyler, you are wrong. He was 24th. Gotcha.

Sorry, but you are all wrong. You are figuring from George Washington. There were 14 Presidents before him. Yes, history says he was first but he was not. He was the first under the Constitution, but not the first. Peyton Randolf was the first President of the United States. You guys don't think I would post a question like that if I didn't have proof? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I would think you would need to qualify the actual date of inception of the country now known as the "United States of America". It was not declared an entity as such until the Declaration of Independence was ratified by Congress in July of 1776. Prior to that time, there were organized Colonies with self governance, but no "national" system in place to be President of. Of course, the War of Independence was waged with GB, and until recognized by the rest of the civilized world, the very existence of the USA would be arguable.

There is a technicality here. Before we were the United Stated we were a confederation under the Continental Congress. The Articles of the Confederation were in effect then. The Continental Congress under the Articles of the Confederation was presided over by the President, same as it is today. We have technically been the United States ever since the letter of intent was sent to Britain. With this said, those were the Presidents before George Washington, and at the same time they were not. It all depends on interpretation. Everyone is correct here. Fun huh?

Well if Washington was first under the Constitution, and you say we became the US at the signing of the Declaration in 1776 then who was pres till 1787 when the constitution was ratified? Wahington was pres from 1789–1797.
