Good Afternoon, I posted this at another site as well,

I know this subject has probably been beat to death but I have done quite a bit of searching and I see varying opinions on what type and weight oil to use in these lathes. I checked the manual and it recommends Daphne Mechanics oil 44, I can't find that oil and I am not sure what weight it is. In the same manual, it lists a few comparable oils and every one seems to be a misspelling/misinformation or no longer available so needless to say, I am confused which admittedly, is not a difficult thing to do.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Joe

Thank you, I found some but it wasn’t Mechanics 44 whatever that means. I thought it might be a typo as the manual has many.

Thanks again,

Joe

Someone provided an email address to Whacheon and I asked them the question directly. Their response is to use Mobil DTE Light or an equivalent.

Thanks again to all for your assistance.

Mobil DTE light = ISO 32. My Jet lathe calls for the same. I found a 5 gallon pale at a deal on Amazon. Might want to check there if you can't get it locally.
