So I picked up this kiln off Craigslist free a few weeks back, brought it home and rearranged my shop so it would fit. This weekend I finally got around to cleaning things up and finished a few other projects so I decided to fire it up.

Pretty good size and front loading so should be a nice addition to the shop.

It lives on top of an old Snap On toolbox next to the door so I can roll it outside.

Took quite a while to get there, and lots of steam came out which I guess would be normal for it not being used for a very long time and probably stored outside too.

1500° Fahrenheit should be good for heat treating steel, now all I need is a surface grinder:grin:

For heat treating, the addition of a set point controller would be desirable, if not necessary.

Definitely looking into controllers, just a heater so single phase but could probably could run on three phase.

Three wire means two hots and a neutral, not 3 phase. I think. "SPH" means single phase.
I wonder why the two knobs?
Interesting brand- Polish? Czech?
Looks nicely made- a coat of silver paint would really spiff it up

Not timers, just temp control. Think it’s so you can only use half.

Will be getting new controls at some point. Don’t think it will see a lot of use but time will tell.
