Thanks for the reply. i have read that manual but it doesn't say what chuck fits that . even calling enco doesn't they didn't know which ones fit it because it's so old.

It has r8 collets with it but when you mount them they are so far inverted that even using a end mill holder and a 4" end mill i have very little clearance to mill. i keep hitting the spindle bearing.

Are they really R8's, many look similar. Spindle and collets must match.

yes. it came with a bunch of collets. all marked R8

Can you get a better picture of the spindle bore something doesn't look right.

How about a picture of the top of the quill. I think the spindle isn't mounted in the quill properly.

After looking at a video of the mill on u tube it does not show the shiny part. Could it be an adapter some one made to mount something to the spindle?
Can you remove the shiny part?

no bolts but they are threaded.

the shiny part does not come off. it is one solid piece.
