These showed up in a recent treasure trove a friend gave me. What are they?
The first appears to be some sort of tool for spreading things apart. The little curved part is a pawl ratchet affair. No makers mark that I could find. It’s made of steel with I think a galvanized finish.

The second appears to be some sort of miniature jack made by Armstrong Bros. Appears to be cast iron.

Look like flat head valve spring compressors.

Well it came from my friend’s 95 year old relative who drove semis and probably owned a number of flat head vehicles. He was some guy - Iwo Jima marine vet. Though he didn’t care to talk about it.

If the screw jack is in the height range of your vice it can be used to support long items that extend beyond the vice for drilling and milling

He sounds like one of the great Americans from world war 2. They were a hardy bunch and should be a paradigm for the upcoming generations.
