it looks a bit like a top slide from a capstan lathe ?

Is this a mystery tool you know what it is or are we all going to be wondering for ever now ?

;)

The adjustable stop on the left looks like a threading stop. That's all I have.

Looks like a feed mechanism for a 2nd operation lathe. Could also be used for a broaching attachment maybe? It looks well-made.

I would also guess a threading top-slide.
The lever (and rack and pinion) offering a way to quickly retract the cutter for setting up for the next pass.

Well made and designed to go onto a base to rotate. The feed is on a rack and pinion with end stops. Not sure what attaches to the top with the single nut.

Looks like it can be swiveled on a lathe cross-slide so useful for production turning of short tapers, grooving, trepanning, etc.
Has a Hardinge-esque vibe to it.
