I have a piece of CR steel, 3/4 x 1". I need to reduce it to 3/4 x 7/8. Should I use my 2" carbide insert face mill, or a "normal" 4 flute end mill? Does it matter?

There will be more questions of a similar, basic sort to follow, as I embark on my first mill project: tompass11's knurler tool!

Mike -

I'll second that advice about the steel warping. Just imagine you're cutting maple - CRS behaves just about like that. . .

Thanks to everybody. Especially Frank, who knows just how to explain it to me!

Is that "warpage" going to happen when cutting slots in from the end, or things like that, or not with the little stuff?

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

And there's damn few of us left!

I look forward to seeing the videos.
