I use a cigarette paper (plain old Zig-Zag) under the cutter. I lower the cutter until the paper just drags and set Z to +0.001. You will learn to adjust that a bit, IE if the paper just gets caught I set Z to +0.0005. This method is surprisingly accurate!
Only drawback id I have to be sure to get the part dry from the flood coolant. I like this for use with my 0.010 end mills as I don't have to touch anything but paper with the fragile tiny end mills.
