So I get this call from a guy out of the blue. He got my name and number from a mutual friend. This guy bought a bunch of stuff from a racing team shop. The team is done. Well he bought barrels full of metal drops. So I went over and grab some but didn't even make a dent into his stash. I mainly grabbed 6061 and 4130 stuff and smidgen of 1018, 1045, and Delrin thrown in. I don't know if he would ship but PM me I you want to contact him.

Looks really good, Mark - have you chucked a piece of turned + ground in it and measured the runout yet?
I'm planning on an ER chuck for mine some day, but with a camlock spindle nose it could be a lot more complicated (and needs a piece of 6" round to start from...) - and I already have native collets* and drawtube for up to 7/8" by sixteenths, anything bigger goes in one of the 4-jaws...

I chucked a part in the 1" collet to bore it and it ran within .0005" I'm happy.

Discovered this when I opened the breaker box on my new to me Doall saw.

I guess the PO discovered that a penny just wouldn't do the job. Then again, modern day pennies are mainly zinc, which won't conduct as much electricity. Wonder if anybody with an old-fashioned fuse box has done any research. My guess is that they'd be haunting coin dealers for the old ones. Maybe that's helping drive the price up

It looks to me like that wire bridging the fuse is around the same gauge as the wires leaving the fuseholders. Doesn't sound like a good idea.

When I was an engineer for a company building heavy trucks, we would sometimes use a fuse-link on wires coming directly from the battery for specific options. The link consisted of a 4" piece of wire connected between the battery terminal and the main wire that was 4 wire gauges smaller than the main wire. A #8 AWG wire would have a fuse-link that was #12 AWG. Just a little trivia to make your life complete.

Wire? Surely they could have used something more suitable, .308 Winchester might be a little short, .50 BMG perhaps?

After spending some down time in TX airports from the storms I was forced to look at art. Two pieces caught my eye and gave me an idea for my mistakes and projects gone wrong . At 500 a piece I might break even.

I made a scribe/scratch awl over the weekend out of C544 bronze, it has a reversible cutter so it can be safely stored. I took a bunch of video, now I just need to find the time to sit down and edit it.

It's a 3/32" HSS drill blank. it's easy to sharpen and cheap.
