Arbor press project

After looking at the pipe threader handle I decided to use the 3/4 drive ratchet . I think what I will do is find a large bolt, cut the head off, bore it out to the shaft diameter, key it to the shaft and just use a socket on it. Fairly simple and cheap and I can get it to fit up tight to the head of the press. Just need to scrounge up a large bolt...
 
I wonder if a short 3/4” drive extension could be turned down and welded to your shaft so you wouldn’t need a socket for the bolt head
 
that might be a good option. Whatever I drive it with I would like to keep it removable, but that or an old socket would likely work good. Still looking for some heavy channel or whatever to make a base out of as well. Thanks for the input Alcap
