Want to spiral flute round stock with manual mill/drill. This possible?

there are practical limits as to how steep an inclined plane is workable ...if more rotation is desired , one wud need to loosen the dog , rotate the part & reclamp for continuing .....redious & fiddly , but doable .......somewhat like resetting when cutting a taper using a compound that has insufficient travel .....
