Closer view of tools needed....yeah I know extra picture but hey I took it.
Use a screw driver and a mallet to bend the tab back.
You will need to bend the tab back out of the way on the lock washer.
Mount the spindle in a vice...using brass/soft jaws. I have mine covered with brass sheets. Have the bearings on your left.

Dead blow hammer, pin punch, Hook spanner, Flat head screw driver. Also, not in the picture a set of hex keys to remove and install the collet set screws in the end that align the R8 collets as you insert them.
