Hey guys,

I'm am planing on purchasing this Scherr Tumico 22-0338 comparator on Saturday. I think the price is right ($350) but is a very long drive from me 6.5hrs one way.

I'm not an expert with comparators and was hoping you guys could give a little advice. I'm looking to check threads, radius, datums. All the typical stuff.

Would you guys recommend this machine? Also any and all information would be appreciated. I tried to look around and find a manual, video, or any other information but not much out there about it.Screenshot_20230914-190739.pngScreenshot_20230914-190739.png

I have no idea what these are worth. But I attended an auction today. Saw a new-ish (2019) Mitutoyo sell for $6,750.

But then this Micro Vu sold for $35.00

I know there's a YUGE difference between the two besides the price tag, that's for sure. I'm not at the point in my journey with hobby machining that I am ready to step into this world.

I suppose for $350, you're on the right end of the curve. ;)

I see them from time to time at auctions, Kijiji etc. If you have the space go for it. That could fit and blend in easily in a home office.

If you have the room for it, I would buy that in a heartbeat. It looks to be in great shape and well taken care of. Personally, I think that $350 is a steal.
