Fixed up my old $10 Helios dial calipers. Superglued the needle so it will quit shifting and replaced the trashed "glass" with one salvaged from an old watch.

Freed tailstock quill. Got a 12x36 lathe last week, quill was extended and wouldn't budge, handle turned freely. I pulled the handle off, took screw out, shot PBlaster in along the sides of the quill, tapped the quill on the exposed part with a brass hammer, used a brass drift inside the tailstock to drive the quill out, once it started moving it slid right out. You can see in the pics the tip of the screw was thrashed preventing it from engaging the quill nut, cleaned it up with a file, now works fine. Probably about an hour including general cleaning and lube.

I hadn't either but a friend of mine has one of those $3000 drill sharpeners and it works with facets also. This was a lot cheaper ( about $200 with what I bought) and the rest from what I had lying around. Mine is also easier to use than his. Instead of a conical grind , the faces are flat and at specific angles. All the drills I have sharpen seem to work much better. It will also do split points. My friends $3000 grinder won't do them.

Fantastic job! But what's that 3-spoke "dial" in the lower part of the first photo? Looks for all the world like the combination dial from a safe. Security measure to keep away unauthorized users???)

Not much of a machining weekend, but here are a couple of good examples of "measure twice, cut once". Or at least pay attention when working with power tools.

I started red my motorcycle frame jig; first pic shows where I cut one piece to length, then forgot to do the other before I drilled holes for everything. Next is me re-drilling holes in the upright because I once again wasn't paying attention and welded the tube on turned 90* to the wrong direction.

Nice motorcycle chassis jig.

Looks very similar to the one I fabricated about 10-years ago. I also added a small expanded metal tray on the side to set parts/tools on when working.
