I have fired the semi auto replicas of those available today. Much heavier than one might expect. Would love to be able to fire one of the originals. That weight would be highly beneficial for handling the rapid fire recoil.Very cool!
The two Thompson submachine guns used were recovered and are kept at the Sheriff’s Office of Berrien County here in Michigan. The two guns were 1921 Thompsons that were part of the original run of 15,000 made by Colt (Remington made the wood for the stock, grip and forearm). Many 1921 Thompsons were later converted to 1928 standard prior to being sold, which is what most people are familiar with, but not these two.
I've shot quite a few original full-auto Thompsons and they are a lot of fun!I have fired the semi auto replicas of those available today. Much heavier than one might expect.
