The numbers are impressive Tony. The views grow an average of 200 per day.

Bearing fit is dead on. It took a light tapping with a dead blow hammer to get them on. It will be easy to get them off. If the bearings ever need changing heat will get them off.. That allen screw is the oil fill plug.

Bill, Great job on the grinder project!
I'm still amazed @ how rapidly the project is coming along. I can't wait to log on & see the progress each day.
I've got a couple of questions. What kind of oil will you run in the spindle housing & will the housing be vented?
Thank you
Phil

Phil, both good questions. The oil will be Mobil #10 Velocite. I have 2 gallons here. Venting will be thru the fill plug. Thank you for asking. Sometimes I forget things.

The ER 20 Collet Pocket will be cut next, but not today. I'm just too tired and mistakes are not acceptable at this point.

Good morning everyone. The business end. We are close now. Threads to go and taper. The back end will have the pulley threaded to set the preload and a jam nut to hold that.

Have you considered making an adapter and possibly a different shaft and mounting it on your lathe? ? ?

Except for the ER 20 nose, this is an exact copy of one in "Workshop Practice Series #27. "Spindles". It could easily be made into a Tool Post grinder Spindle. The book is well worth the mony.

I ordered that book about a week and a half ago. I should be getting it in the mail in a few days. It looked like it had a lot of good useful info in it, I'm glad that you agree. I'm gonna be building a TPG very shortly.

The tool grinder is looking really good Bill. I read on it every single day.:))

Page 69 has a OD grind spindle and page 77 has an ID grind spindle. There is a neat one on page 92. Its a vertical spindle foe gear cutting in the lathe. It mounts in the OCTP. I've never been sorry I bought this book. I highly recommend it to any person needing a spindle.
