1922 patent date Peerless chain hoist

hey ya'll. is this considered machinery? I usually try to save original paint but the rust had crept under it. so Massey Ferguson red it is.

soaked the chains in evapo rust for a few days. been baking the paint in the florida sun, will let the paint cure for a week or 2 before final assembly.

Definitely a machine, and looks to have very little wear. Don't know that I would paint the gears, but won't probably hurt any thing, just get mixed in with grease. Mike

I didn't paint any of the gears in this pic. the gear I painted is welded in place and masking the teeth would have prevented getting paint under it.

well, you motivated me to grab the old flex shaft with a tiny wire wheel and remove all the paint and primer from the contact surfaces of that gear. everything else was properly masked. appreciate the kick in the pants.
