My Uncle was an electrician/handyman/appliance repairman. But mostly a quail and deer hunter and the best fisherman (mostly crappie and flat head cat fish) I ever saw. I watched him and he knew what he was doing! He did not have to carry a lot of fuses around, but he always replaced a burnt out house fuse with the exact same size! He took out his pocket knife, cut a section of the copper screw threads into a ribbon and without breaking it off on one end he folded the other ribbon end over to the end of the fuse screw tip and screwed it back in the socket. Fixed! I know this fixed the problem because these new fuses never seemed to burn out!
 
Alas, poor Edna. You are supposed to read and follow label instructions. On the other hand, “real men“ often toss the instruction…until it makes a funny noise, the smoke gets out, or generally gets expensive. Or you need a fork lift, a bunch of pallets, ratchet straps, and some duck tape - 220/221 whatever…
