I have plenty of conventional 5W-30 and I was thinking of filling up my one shot lubrication reservoir on my knee mill with it.

Not sure if motor oil is harmful but some oil is better than no oil- I think you are supposed to use non-detergent oil but it may be hard to find

You can get way oil by the gallon from McMaster.
It will be better than 5W-30.

Way oil is "waaay" different in terms of viscosity and film strength; it's made for the job. Put the motor oil in your motor, which is made and spec'd for it. Way oil is for sliding parts in a total loss system with little temperature variance. If your mill is your biscuit, Vactra #2 is real butter.

Go get yourself some generic chain saw bar oil or stop they both contain "tactifier" this is what adds the thickness and cling to oil making it way oil.
I buy it at the dollar store , it is inexpensive and works perfectly.
Caution, do not use way oil or bar chain oil in your hydraulic circuits.....

Looks like I need a DIFFERENT oil for the quill also. Geez..
