There's a Tacoma Screw in Portland, on Columbia Blvd. A friend of mine swears by them, though I've never been.

@homebrewed, the stainless series from McMaster are very straight and have excellent, uniform threads. If you don't want to use 4 or 5mm dia ACME (it's available), I think these would provide the best movement for your project. The link is direct to the product.
