Blocked oil passage to spindle bearing in lathe headstock

Pleased you had success. The brake cleaner shouldn't hurt provided you flush it out after with some clean oil and relube the bearing.
 
Get a gits oil cup with the lid . Ball oilers suck. The cheap China ones do just that fall apart in the machine.
