My Boyar 612H motor had been replaced by a previous owner. With a GE 1ph motor.

After running it for about 2-3 mins, I noticed some white smoke…
Motor was warm to the touch.

Took motor off, took it apart and cleaned out the grinding dust. Replaced several wires with crumbling insulation. Verified that the start cap looked ok, and the centripetal switch seems to work without sticking.

Have not tested it yet, but I’m thinking about a replacement motor..this one (an old GE) is likely not going to last much longer, even if the starter winding wasn’t fried.

I understand a 56 frame motor will work in the BS. Anyone do this, and if so, how did you mount it?

This is the motor tag from my all original six twelve deluxe . Looking up the number it comes up as a 56 Frame, it shows no special mounting codes.20221212_172955.jpg

You are absolutely correct, it is a 56 c face motor.
the machine has a pretty elaborate mounting bracket that includes cooling fins.
