Just my opinion, If what you are doing requires the pipe to have an exact concentric bore with clean sides then yes I would bore it; otherwise, I would use the compound to cut a large chamfer and debur it for the live bull nose center to set in evenly. If you are looking for a piece of pipe without the longitudinal weld look for a piece of ASTM A106-B seamless pipe. Also remember, in the real world anything Pipe and/or piping related that is commercially purchased will have a +/- .125" tolerance on all dimensions.First of all, thanks everyone for an input
This is bull nose? If pipes I have are electrowelded with a seam along them, I should turn inside before using this tailstock?
