Deburring Wheels Education Needed

Thanks for all the replys, now I'm learning alittle bout different makes of wheels and one wheel will not do it all.Ones for deburring(rounding over the edges just a smidge, cleaning) one for alittle shine, then another for polishing so is this correct? What I did I went shopping with these things in mind and there is still alot of choices for each one and like most said their not cheap.
Not wanting to purchase the wrong one making a 50-100 mistake could someone provide links to what you have in your shop? Now I can't afford the high end like some that I look at such as what Chuck posted but maybe up to the 50-100 mark.I'm guessing(like my buffing wheels) that if a person could take a 1/2 wheel for tight places then maybe stack two 1/2 wheels for a 1" wide for those flat places or areas that would allow 1" wide deburring surface,is that also possible?Sorry for all the elementary questions----kroll

I have two wheels. One is medium and one is fine. The fine will do almost all you need unless your working on really rusty ( read pitted scaley pretty much junk). They will last forever if you do as the previous poster stated. I've had my two for 5-6 years and one is beginning to show some slight wear. It's the fine one that I use for everything.......I have a buffing system and use it only to put the final polish on a part that needs to match a super shiney, polished surface. Get the "fine" wheel and you will be happy. As funds are available you can deside on another wheel. I wonder how I got by without these wheels, or an air compresser, or my shapers, or my bead blaster or.....an infin idem.

Thanks Cactus,so investing in med, fine will do the trick.Cactus where would you suggest purchasing these and is there any #'s on your wheels?I have look and notice that some only differ by a letter or number. Thanks again for responding---kroll

A few years ago, a specialist machine rebuilt a gearbox for us. Unfortunately, the surface finish on the shafts (bronze bearings ) was too coarse for our taste. I thought of3M polishing wheels and ordered one, 3/4 x 6, and found we could clean up the bearing parts while removing less than .001. We also found them to be hopelessly fragile for edge de-blurring. For surfaces , great!BLJHB
