I do not know that lathe. Most gear head lathes have parts made of yellow metal in them. I recommend you use the oil specified in the manual for your lathe. Why go looking for trouble?

thanks, I think I will go with mobil dte heavy medium , its formulated for gear boxes . you are right don't need trouble .

I use this, per the manual's recommendations for my 1340GT and have had no issues. Because I don't need no trouble with this either.
