[How-To] Hitting a measurement

Am very glad I stumbled across this. I have a 1952 Logan 820 10" and have decided it was built for HHS and does better with HHS. Rather than throw $ at carbide inserts, except for my boring bars, I've purchased tangential tool holders and HHS inserts. And grind whatever else is needed. Question, and I suspect this has more to do with carbide use, is how much attention needs to be paid to the work heating up?
Thanks,
Ron
