I rescued a nice big Jacobs drill chuck 5/8" a while back, the ball bearing style, nice chuck. I didn't put it into a machine before I took it apart and cleaned it. Once I did run it, I noticed it has some weeble wobble. It's got some good runout...
Is there any way to fix that? I'm fairly certain it's in the jaws.
Would there be a set order to reinsert the jaws like in a lathe chuck? Could I have messed that up? Or is it more likely it's been abused and I'd have to buy a repair kit from Jacobs (expensive...) Or just abandon it.
