Cutting some profiles, removing a huge amount of surface material, cutting slots to (correct) width in a single pass, to name a few. Is it a replacement for a vertical? Not at all, but it definitely has a supplementary role, at least in the home shop.

Chips fall down away from the tool.
A Bridgeport mill or a clone is much more versatile than a mill like this but it can have advantages.

That mill will remove some material very quickly , so less time involved for scrapping your piece ! :grin: Really looks like a nice mill though . :encourage:
