Magnetic work holding

Have some small projects that don't lend themselves well to clamping or vise, do magnetic bases hold the work well enough for milling operations?
Clamping stuff to a magnetic chuck that happens to be the wrong size to straddle enough magnet poles, and even using a magnetic check to clamp totally non-magnetic stuff can be done by using home-made 0.020" "fingers". The technique is fully explained in this video by ROBRENZ. I saw it while I was learning about precision ground stones. I get it the video is on another topic, but check out the metal fingers getting a grip from the sides.

They work by having the metal get pulled hard onto the mag-chuck, while the fingers are raised a tad, so they don't get get pulled down, but squeeze on the sides of whatever is being held, and pull down at the same time

--> See the fingers getting a grab on non-magnetic stones
