Clamping stuff to a magnetic chuck that happens to be the wrong size to straddle enough magnet poles, and even using a magnetic check to clamp totally non-magnetic stuff can be done by using home-made 0.020" "fingers". The technique is fully explained in this video by ROBRENZ. I saw it while I was learning about precision ground stones. I get it the video is on another topic, but check out the metal fingers getting a grip from the sides.Have some small projects that don't lend themselves well to clamping or vise, do magnetic bases hold the work well enough for milling operations?
They work by having the metal get pulled hard onto the mag-chuck, while the fingers are raised a tad, so they don't get get pulled down, but squeeze on the sides of whatever is being held, and pull down at the same time
