I have ad blocker disabled for this site, and just got messages that I must accept cookies, and went into a non member mode with ads, and not able to log in unless I accepted them. Something new? I kinda like not being followed....

Perhaps our definitions of what cookies and modern web browsing forums are is separated by a large gap. When you say “never” have seen cookie requirements on all of forums but this one…I’m faced with my experience of “never not” seeing a cookie acceptance or screwing around with settings in a browser.

What I mean is, sites have cookie acceptance requirements, forum software usually doesn't. It's simply part of what goes on behind the scenes. Something is different with this setup, and I suspect it's not behaving well, or consistently, with some browsers.

@IamNotImportant 's comments support what I'm getting at.

ok.. i think i understand the issue here.. for instance, i was reading this thread

And when i clicked on the link provided by David, this occurred:

Notice in the URL line, it says.. "Not Secure".. which means that the "https:// is missing. Once that was entered before the URL.. this happens.

so that is the problem, some links work fine, others are not and the issue with the URL and not having the "https://" included, hence not picking up your log in due to it not being secure.

"https access" issue. I'll fix the links.

All members should be aware that links must use "https://" in their links. If "http://" is used, the security protocols for html code will not recognize cookies used on the site.
