My make &break wont run

I keep an eye on that..... I did hear a funny noise.... maybe

Have you experimented with the timing ? You might try advancing it 10 degrees or so.
Just a thought.

I am not familiar with this engine. Why is there no rocker/pushrod for the intake valve? I only see an exhaust rocker?

Edit: I assume the intake opens passively? Perhaps the exhaust valve or rings are leaking on the intake stroke? Is there a way to check the vacuum?

It's called an atmospheric intake. On the intake stroke when the piston is moving down it creates a vacuum in the cylinder causing the intake valve to open thus sucking in a charge from the carburetor.
I hope this helps.

Hi Pat,

That's great, but you can't keep us in suspense..... what was the issue?

It was a combination of several things.
The intake spring was too stiff. I replaced it with a spring much weaker that I never thought would work... but its fine.
I machined a hex on the flywheel so as to use a drill to turn it and that helped a lot.
Then, timing and carb adjustments helped make it better.
It still wont start by hand but I'll keep making adjustments. Starts fine with the starter drill.

I had to make my own intake spring. I made them out of .010 music wire.
