I like it. I used heavy rubber ring around mine as could not find stainless trim. Very close to ocean here and non stainless, Unpainted, parts just fall apart. The door handles and scuff plates are already going after a year. As you may be aware 54 was really first year if things like Stainless emblems and headlight bezels (and plastic coated wires).

FWIW When i first got mine in 72 there were traces of flat black paint on most chromed or stainless parts. Believe it was black out paint applied by USAF for use in combat zones. One MOGAS receipt was from Korea near DMZ.

Do you have that same corrosion problem with aluminum?
